Nanaimo, Duncan & District Labour Councils Meetings
The Nanaimo, Duncan & District Labour Council meets at 7:00 pm on the third Thursday of every month except July and August. In March and October, the meetings are held at the Steelworker's Hall, 351 Brae Rd, in Duncan. In May, the meeting is held in Ladysmith at Ladysmith Senior Secondary School, at 710 6th Ave in Ladysmith. In all other months except December meetings are held in Meeting Room A, at Nanaimo District Secondary School at 355 Wakesiah Ave in Nanaimo.
Who Comes to NDDLC Meetings ?
Generally, those in attendance include Officers and Staff, Delegates from local union affiliates, guests and news media.
How Do I Become A Delegate ?
Delegates must be authourized by their local unions to be their representative at the labour council. If your union has no delegates, perhaps you could volunteer to your union that you'd like to attend.
How Many Delegates Can My Union Send?
The number of delegates Affiliated Local Unions, Branches and Lodges can send depends on the number of members they have within the boundaries of the Nanaimo, Duncan, and District Labour Council.
1 to 100 members..........................2 Delegates
Delegates 101 to 250 members ........3 Delegates
Delegates 251 to 450 members ....... 4 Delegates
Delegates 451 to 700 members ....... 5 Delegates
and for each five hundred (500) members, or major fraction thereof,
affiliated local unions would be entitled to one (1) additional delegate.
Must I Be A Delegate To Attend?
No. Anyone can come to the meeting. Only delegates, however, can vote, and guests must request permission to speak at a Labour Council meeting.
